Empowering girls since 2019

Hello you,

It is with great joy and pride that we introduce Flama - Peruvian Women in Sports Foundation. Flama was founded in 2019 by Alejandra Rodriguez Larrain and Alexia Polis. In 2020, Paola Franco joined us as a third co-founder, bringing her energy and expertise in accounting and operations to complete the team.

You may ask, what does Flama mean? For us, “Flama” - “Flame” represents the strength and energy we all carry within us.

Growing up, we were fortunate to be surrounded by sports and to practice them from a young age. This gift, given to us by our parents, is something we can’t see our lives without. Sports to us mean joy, companionship, discipline, and, most importantly, self-esteem.

The transformative power of sports has given us much more than physical fitness. However, many girls do not receive this gift. Most girls and women in Peru face huge cultural, physiological and physical barriers to unlock the gift of sports.

To address this, we founded Flama - Peruvian Women in Sport Foundation, aiming to level the playing field for girls and women through movement, play, and sport. Our mission extends beyond creating spaces or programs. We believe sports teach valuable life lessons and values like fairness, team spirit, leadership, and self-esteem.

Flama seeks to provide girls and women in Peru with tools to participate actively in society. Sports are not the end goal but the vehicle to gain life lessons and apply these in their day to day lives.

Join us in the journey of changing millions of women's lives!

We advocate for Peruvian girls and women by working to remove the physical, social, and psychological barriers that hinder their participation in sports
